a moose bit my sister once.
y’know what’s sad? my history teacher once showed us that movie, because- and i quote- “in some places it’s more accurate than your textbooks.”
No argument there. Gilliam did his homework. It was mostly a send-up of other movies of the era, which depicted the Middle Ages as more or less modern society with funny (but immaculately clean) clothes and castles. Making sure that the peasants were absolutely *filthy* was brilliant comedy.
“Who’s that then?”
“Must be a king.”
“How can you tell?”
“He hasn’t got s**t all over him.”
Terry *Jones* was the Arturian scholar, but that doesn’t matter that much, because it’s hilarious and still one of my favorite/the best comedies of all time.
Ah, I was unaware of that. Still, Gilliam does pay a lot of attention to detail in his movies. Even the ones on a tight budget (like Grail) get just the right touches.
Classic! Awesome!
Directional University win.
I immediately asked “What do you mean? An African or European swallow?” It pays to have that entire movie memorized. Not all the time, but sometimes.
“She’s got huge…. Tracts of land.” comes in handy on SO many occasions.

Fun bit that they sadly cut from the film: The scene where the dragon boat comes out of the mists on the lake.
As ARTHUR and BEVEDERE approach, OLD MAN stands up in the boat.
OLD MAN: “He who would cross the Sea of Fate.. must answer my questions.. Twenty-eight!”
ARTHUR and BEVEDERE look at OLD MAN, then at one another. They clamber into the boat, pick up OLD MAN and throw him into the water.
