I’d Also Like to See It Compared to Actual Apples

job fails - I'd Also Like to See It Compared to Actual Apples

Because apples are delicious and nutritious, neither of which are qualities of which the iPad or a rock can boast.

Woo, look at me, being all fancy and not leaving my prepositions at the end of sentences. I should be shamed off the internet.

U just mad because you cant afford an ipad.

    • Rauss says:

U mad cos you’re buying a brand and nothing useful or of long term value?

      • Cait says:

Tell that to the idiots who own kindles and nooks… Not that I own an iPad either. I agree it costs too damn much, but it does run iWork and other Mac productivity apps.

    • John says:

U just mad because ipads are douchey.

Seriously though, what can you do with your ipad other than use it to absorb your monthly flow? Check email? surf the web?? OOHH how special!! What a waste of money, I can do all of the same crap (that I don’t really care about anyway) from my phone.

  5. Right says:

I’m not sure when this became the bash apple site, but I’m going to try replacing my wife’s iPad with a rock when I get home tonight. I’m sure she won’t notice the difference. I’ll admit I’m an apple guy and I’ll also admit they’re somewhat overpriced. I choose to pay the premium because I like how they work.

If you don’t like it, you don’t have to buy one. I don’t understand the inferiority complex driving these people to bash apple all the time . . .

    • Angry_Scotsman says:

I think it’s just the usual build up of frustration caused by the huge number of Apple Fanboys who use every opportunity to show how superior they are because they use a Mac, or have an iPad. I have a few friends like that so I can see where it’s coming from.

      • Hal says:

But the buildup of a small group PC users consistently bashing people who just buy an apple product because they want, or need one, just causes a horrible circle of hate.

tbh, I very rarely see people ‘seriously’ bashing PCs, but im sure it happens. There will always be idiots like that.

        • Josh says:

ROFL are you KIDDING me??? Alls you ever see on any discussion board that mentions the word PC is “This wouldn’t happen if you had an Apple” or “Why would you use a PC to do that when an Apple is so much better” Truth is, Apple takes all customizability out of a computer, you are limited by what you can buy and what you get is worth 1/4 of what you will have bought it for, I mean sure you can go buy that 12 core server computer for $8000 from Apple… orrrrr. you can buy a 12 core PC with SLI 6970s with 6g of V-Ram Possibly even 9g, 4tb+ of Hard Drive Space, 1 tb of SSD space, 24g of RAM and dozens more improvements that destroy Apples $8000 computer and you can get all this for about $4000-5000 compared to $8000 for a FAR worse computer.

          • facepalmjedi says:

but dude, the apple has brushed aluminium. BRUSHED ALUMINIUM! that means that is easily worth the extra 3-4k…

    • Paul says:

Most of the reason I hate on Apple fans is how much they believe Apple is the best company on the planet ever.

Them: “Oh, Apple just released a new device, it must be the first one ever and therefore also the best ever!”
Me: “Erm, tablet computers have been publicly available since the early 2000′s. Apple did nothing new or innovative with this.”
Them: “QUIT BEING AN APPLE BASHER, YOU’RE JUST MAD BECAUSE YOU CAN’T AFFORD IT, JERK!”

      • Some Guy says:

Sounds like my usual day around mactards.

      • Perrin says:

“Me: “Erm, tablet computers have been publicly available since the early 2000′s. Apple did nothing new or innovative with this.””

And yet, none of them have gotten anywhere near 30 million units sold. Fanbois aside, Apple is a marketing success story, just like Windows was for Microsoft. Shitty OS, but at the right time and the right market, they managed an unassailable monopoly, that despite their inability to improve (yay for 16 bit kernel elements), still exists.

      • Right says:

Well, as a matter of fact, Apple is the most valuable (depending on the day of the week) company ever. I can’t imagine a better metric to measure the success of a for profit venture . . . but like I said before, you don’t have to buy one if you don’t want to. What’s really odd is that you, and others like you, “HATE” people because they like a product a company provides to them. Seriously, you and your ilk have issues . . .

        • geekgirl says:

It’s not hating the people, I couldn’t care less about someone who is happy with thier product. Good for them. I hate the automatic assumption by the cult like fanatics (not every apple owner, but a great majority), that people who don’t buy apple are completely ignorant peasants who just don’t yet know the joy that is owning one. Advertising saturation isn’t a valid reason to buy a product, you’re usually only paying for those ads anyway. Also, why is it a product is automatically considered better because it’s made more money? When did the almighty buck become the only barometer of quality? Nine times out of ten the highest priced product ISN’T the best quality, it’s just the most marketed and people feel special if they spent a tonne of money on something.

          • Cerberus says:

And yet everything about these posts is designed to make Apple users feel unhappy about their purchase, not with compelling, well thought out and reasoned arguments, but with trash talk, slander, and immature jokes. The fact is there are rabid fanboys (and girls) on BOTH sides, and it’s not a great majority on either side, it’s a very small subset, but the crazies are so vocal and rabid and always in your face trying to convince you that you’ve made the wrong choice that they appear ubiquitous.

To me I see far more Windows crazies calling me stupid or a fanboy or a hipster or my favourite “computer illiterate” because my machines happen to have an Apple logo on it (that logo must keep the Mac crazies away, they’d rather be converting then praising).

I do have reasons for using Macs that have nothing to do with the logo, but when I voice them (never as superior to another machine or choice, just as relevant to me) in defence of my purchasing I get the same Apple bashing rhetoric spouted back.

Ultimately the one point I have to make is that I’ve yet to see ANY “Apple is Superior” or “Windows Sucks” comparisons like the Apple bashing ones I’ve seen lately on this site. I’ve seen a few Apple users defending themselves and their machines in the comments, but where are the vast majority of Fanboys trying to convert you? I’m not seeing them here, I am seeing a lot of Fans of hating Apple though… food for thought?

    • Schlomo says:

“I don’t understand the inferiority complex driving these people to bash apple all the time”

      You mean *buy*, not *bash*.

  6. Flood says:

    Inb4 Apple fanboy s__tstorm.

  7. Subaru says:

How are these anti-apple posts “work fails”? Put this crap elsewhere.

    • Tired of Propaganda says:

This site has degraded with this propaganda (yes, this image fits that definition). It used to be funny, but now it’s become a litany of crass jokes that fails to be funny. Consider this one less set of hits from which to get advertisement dollars.

  8. MERX says:

The iPad2 invalidates a bunch of that.

    -a PC

    • WeaverSka says:

Yes, it does. But this isnt on about the iPad 2.

This is about the iPad. Which was pretty much Steve Jobs’ way of proving that you can stick an apple logo on anything, and it will sell like wildfire.

Look at the sales for the iPad. Then think about what it actually offered people.

It was just a way of giving more to the customers (by giving them less) and charging them more.

But appleholics were crazy for it, and now Mr Jobs has enough money for a house made out of helicopters.

  9. skarrd says:

one of my many hates toward apple is how it’s overpriced.

it’s like buying a t-shirt. i could either pay $50 for a t-shirt that has some name on it, or $5 for the same shirt with no name on it.

why would i spend $2000+ on an apple, when i can buy a pc for the same price and have much newer and better components.

    • Zomgrei says:

Why would you spend $100,000 on a Ferrari when you can buy a $15,000 Sedan with much newer components?

Just because it costs more doesn’t mean the cost isn’t justifiable. Some people prefer to pay the premium because they like the aesthetics and the operating system. Your argument is invalid.

Some folks like their sedans (like me) while some people like their Ferraris. It’s just the way it is. Can’t we all just coexist?

      • Altherix says:

Can’t tell if troll or just stupid.

        • Azrael says:

Definitely stupid. Otherwise why would it compare an Apple to a Ferrari? A much better analogy would be a Trabant.

      • bob says:

A more accurate comparison would be: why buy a Ferrari with a badge for $100,000, when you could buy a higher spec Ferrari without a badge for $50,000?

It’s true about macboys, they are not well informed or computer litterate. They just take in whatever apple tell them :/

  10. mamba says:

5 billion? do you even know how old the earth is?

  11. PhillipHerpman says:

“The brands you spend money on are different than the brands I spend money on. The costs of said brands differ. Your rational for said cost is invalid. The brand I spend money on is superior to the brand you spend money on.” Am I missing anything?

    • WeaverSka says:

Just the mental image of Steve Jobs bending over every “appleholic” and making them take it like a suppository.

      Inb4 moderation of metaphors

    • James says:

Nope, pretty much got it covered.

Although more name calling is probably in order.

  12. Hermes says:

Wouldn’t the iPad have “Free Internet” if it is WiFi enabled?

  13. Frank says:

Rocks have SMS capability! It is a simple add-on called string and paper. =D

  14. Perrin says:

    Haters going to hate.

Interestingly, I’d like to see this comparison between a rock and any other tablet on the market. Cause you know, they all run a Desktop OS, have 1080p E-Ink (yay, black and white TV!), are completely open source, have 17 ports attached to the side, provide free internet to developing nations, and cure world hunger.

I swear the anti-apple fanbois (and yes they are fans of hating Apple) have higher expectations of the first commercially viable tablet (something that’s been tried for years and years) than those who actually enjoy the features it has.

  15. Brooke says:

I hate how every anti apple fan boy thinks that everyone that has an apple product is stuck up Steve Jobs’ ass. I’ve had Apple and Android products. Each one is only as good as what you want to use it for. It’s just a personal preference.

    • Hal says:

      FINALY Someone like me.

      • yep says:

There’s a lot of us out there – we just don’t bother to get involved in the flame wars because they’re a waste of time.

And Perrin’s comments about curing world hunger are hilariously spot on. I have an iPad, and I work in a healthcare environment. It allows me the full power of a computer without having to carry one with me wherever I go, and without dealing with the tininess of a phone screen.

If people can’t see that there is a place for a mid-range device like a tablet, well, maybe *they* don’t have a use for it. But plenty of other people do.

Anyone who makes a blanket statement about any particular technology because of how it applies to them and them alone is an idiot. I’m more than content to go on doing what works for me while always looking out for other newer solutions that work even better, regardless of who makes them.

  16. Will says:

Pretty lame. And I’m a Windows fanboy.

  17. la_boheme2 says:

I personally find this extremely funny, and I use exclusively apple stuff though I did always think the ipad stupid. “It can do everything an Ipod touch can do but it costs twice as much and its not nearly as convenient.”

    • Mac says:

Not really. It’s a lot easier to read off a larger screen, watch videos, etc.
It’s easier then carrying a laptop, as well.

I like having a screen that I can read.

  18. Chrisman 007 says:

But does a rock have a bubble application? Aha!

  19. borednow says:

Why not just keep repeating the same meme over and over because that will improve click throughs…

We get it – some people don’t like/rate apple products, other people do. Can’t you be happy with your own product and its brilliance and post about how [insert brilliant product name] is so much better in so many ways?

  20. MiaFromJapan says:

The only problem I have with Apple products is that most (not all!) people who buy them are total d-bags. (As has been nicely demonstrated in many of the above comments.) Sometimes I’d like to buy an Apple product too but I don’t want associate myself with these d-bags.

    • Cait says:

Funny, because I actually read the comments, and most (not all) of the name-calling, mud-slinging came from anti-mac people. There are always a few who can’t resist in any group, but I’ve never seen such venom from Apple users for PCs as I have the reverse. My conclusion is that PC fans rabidly hate anything Jobs/Apple related, whether it is useful or not, expensive or not. I hope they’re happy with their androids when Apple withdraws rights to Safari mobile tech… :)

  21. Andrew says:

Which would win in a fight? A rock, or an Ipad?
    Durability:
    Rock:1 Ipad:1
Which comes in a variety of colour/styles?
    Rock:1 Ipad:1

  22. Nerdlinger says:

Leavinf a comment using my iPad. U mad?

  23. The.Heightened.Illusionist says:

Actually, my rock continues to work outside of Wi-fi hotspots. I’m quite happy with the internet functions.
