I remember it too. We’ve had Windows 97 since before I knew how to type. This little dude always popped up whenever I so much as thought about writing a letter!

How did you get Microsoft to make you a special windows?
They took Windows 95 and edited it. It’s just Windows 95 with most hotfixes (At that time) with an edited splash screen and wallpaper then label it “Windows 97.”
The only real lasting impact was Office 97. You will notice that versions of Windows Office rarely match any operating system’s name.
Haha I remember this! My friends and I would ask it pointless questions like “Are you a boy or a girl?” We were kids and that was our favourite thing to do on the computer!

i’m 15 and yeah, i definitely remember clippy. I hated him with all the hate a 5 year old could muster.
I still kinda miss Scratchy the cat. He suddenly disappeared one update day and was never heard of again – I think the evil paperclip knew everybody liked him better and offed him.

God, I remember him. Hilarious memories of the high school computer lab, and also unending tedium, where poking at the Office Assistant was much more enjoyable than actually focusing on the work (or the work was so easy you’d fly through it fast and have nothing to do, as you’d get yelled at for playing solitaire.) Ah memories.

I’m sixteen and I remember that douche! And his stupid light bulb. In fact I pretty much spent all my time on the computer just changing assistants and then making them do stuff. The cat was awesome.
